1. Who we are
Savuko operates Yapkin and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For privacy questions or requests, email contact@savuko.com.
2. Information we process
The information involved depends on which features you use.
- Account information: your provider account identifier, email address, verification details, and name when supplied. Google may also provide a profile image. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your personal address.
- Learning information: your selected course, learning preferences, onboarding answers, lesson and practice activity, saved words, mistakes, progress, streaks, reminder preferences, and push notification tokens.
- Conversation information: speech you choose to send, transcriptions, typed responses, conversation turns, translations, feedback, and session records needed for the learning experience.
- Technical information: device and app details, identifiers used by our services, feature use, session timing, error reports, network information, and service logs.
- Purchase information: subscription status, trial and renewal events, transaction references, and entitlement information. Apple processes payment; we do not receive your full payment-card number.
- Support information: your email and anything you choose to include when you contact us.
3. Sign in with Apple or Google
Apple or Google verifies your identity and shares the information authorized through its sign-in flow. Yapkin uses that information to create or access your account and associate your learning progress with you. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Apple’s Hide My Email option can provide a relay address. Keep that relay active if you need to receive account-related replies. Signing in with Google does not give Yapkin general access to your email inbox, contacts, or Google Drive.
You can manage connected app access in your Apple or Google account. Revoking sign-in access does not by itself erase your Yapkin account or cancel an Apple subscription.
4. AI conversations and voice
When you choose a speaking or conversation feature, the microphone audio and relevant conversation context are processed to recognize your words and produce a response. Audio can be sent directly from your device to OpenAI during a live session, or through our backend for transcription.
OpenAI processes speech, transcription, and real-time conversation. Groq processes conversation text and the context needed to provide requested translations. Google AI can process lesson responses and context for mission evaluation and feedback. Google Cloud speech services can process text to produce spoken output.
Yapkin can save transcripts, conversation turns, translations, learning results, and session records to your account. Audio processing by an AI provider is separate from those saved learning records. Provider logs and retention depend on the service and its data controls, so we do not promise that all audio or text is immediately deleted after a request.
Only share information you are comfortable having processed for language practice. You can use fictional details in a roleplay. AI replies and feedback can be wrong; they are learning aids, not authoritative advice.
5. Why we use information
We use information to operate your account, deliver lessons and AI features, save progress, personalize practice, manage subscription access, respond to support requests, and keep the service reliable and secure.
Where the GDPR or comparable rules apply, we rely on performing our contract with you for requested account and learning features; legitimate interests for proportionate security, troubleshooting, service improvement, and support; legal obligations for required records and lawful requests; and consent when required for optional permissions or processing. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Learning feedback and progress estimates are automated. They are not official qualifications, and we do not use them to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.
6. Service providers and other disclosures
The providers below receive information relevant to the functions they perform. Their current policies and service terms describe their own practices.
- Convex: authentication infrastructure, backend functions, database records, and cloud storage.
- OpenAI: speech transcription and live AI conversation, including the audio, text, and context required for those features.
- Groq: text processing for conversation translations.
- Google: optional Google sign-in; Google AI and Google Cloud services for lesson evaluation, feedback, and speech where used.
- Apple: optional Apple sign-in, App Store purchases, and subscription billing.
- Superwall: paywall presentation, subscription-related identifiers, purchase events, and entitlement management.
- PostHog: app usage analytics and error information to understand feature use and reliability.
- Expo and Apple Push Notification service: device push tokens and notification content to deliver enabled reminders.
- Website hosting and support providers: technical request logs and messages needed to deliver the website and respond to you.
8. Retention and account deletion
Account and learning records are kept while needed to provide your account and its history. You can use Delete account in the app’s account settings, or email us with the subject “Delete my Yapkin account.” We may ask for information needed to verify that the account belongs to you.
Deletion removes associated active account and learning data through our deletion process. Some records can remain temporarily in backups or provider logs, or longer when needed for legal obligations, fraud prevention, or resolving a dispute. Subscription, analytics, and support records have separate retention needs. We do not promise a single retention period for all data or all providers.
Deleting Yapkin, revoking Apple or Google sign-in, or deleting your Yapkin account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple. Cancel that subscription separately through Apple.
9. Permissions and website storage
Microphone access enables speaking features. Notification permission enables reminders you choose to receive. You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings; turning off the microphone prevents features that need your voice.
This website does not install an analytics SDK, advertising tracker, or nonessential cookie. Hosting infrastructure can still process an IP address, browser details, request time, and requested URL to deliver and protect the site. Links to the App Store and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
The app uses local storage and caches for sign-in state, settings, learning information, and downloaded audio. App analytics through PostHog are separate from this website.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of your information, and object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on it. Email contact@savuko.com to exercise a right or ask about the information associated with your account. We respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity.
Where applicable, you can complain to your local data protection authority, including the Polish supervisory authority (UODO). California residents may have additional rights to know, correct, and delete information, and to receive equal service when exercising privacy rights, subject to the law’s applicability and exceptions.
11. Children
Yapkin is not directed to children under 13, or under a higher minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. Younger users who are legally permitted to use the service need parental or guardian permission where required. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information that should be removed.
12. Security and changes
We use access controls and secure connections to help protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Please keep your device and sign-in account secure.
We update this policy when the service or our practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice of material changes when required.
